Healthy intimate relationships are collaborative, and collaboration requires transparency, vulnerability and integrity.
Sometimes, we need to deconstruct who we were programmed to be in order to become who we are.

Whether a person’s issues stem from under control or overcontrol, she can meet them where they are at and adapt the therapeutic approach to meet their needs. Before processing trauma, she believes it is necessary to develop skills to utilize between sessions. People who under control their behaviors will benefit from learning how to regulate their emotions, tolerate their distress, and healthily express their needs while maintaining respect towards themselves and others. Individuals that overcontrol themselves will benefit from learning how to open themselves up to new experiences, adopt flexible control and increase intimacy and social connectedness. Through mindfulness, all individuals can learn to be more present in their lives and relationships.
