Education

Kersten is currently a student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Wichita State University. She enjoys working with individuals from all backgrounds and is open to working with families and couples. Her coursework focused on counseling theories

and evidence-based techniques, career counseling, addiction counseling, play therapy, theories of suicidology, multicultural issues, and families and couples counseling. Kersten is in her final semester of the program and uses humanistic psychology, cognitive

behavioral therapy, and mindfulness counseling as her main guiding theories, but will focus on techniques that best serve the client.

Overview

Kersten has always enjoyed working with people and enjoys providing a safe space for her clients. She has a past working with horses in an equine experiential learning setting where individuals can learn leadership skills and build confidence around large animals. She has taken this love of empowering others into her counseling practice in standard talk therapy. Kersten has experience working in the foster care system as a previous adoption case manager and enjoys working with families and children that may be facing unique challenges in this area. Kersten values authenticity and would like to help clients feel comfortable becoming the best version of themselves with unconditional acceptance. Kersten would like to walk alongside you in your journey toward your goals; whether you are interested in learning to manage stress, understand emotions, make healthy changes, improve communication in your relationships, or resolve old wounds from the past.
