I am in my final semester at WSU in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. My coursework included learning about theories of counseling, mental health diagnostics, mindfulness, human development, career development, addiction, and more. Alongside my traditional coursework, I have been studying domestic abuse, trauma, and oppression. Within my practicum and in my previous career as a cognitive specialist, I have worked with people who experienced symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, psychosis, and difficulty with cognition. While employed as a cognitive specialist, I received training in cognitive remediation by neuropsychologist Dr. Susan McGurk of Boston University to help people increase their cognitive skills, such as attention, focus, and memory.
Since I was a child, I have been deeply passionate about understanding others. Seeing the person across from me learning to see their authentic self is incredibly inspiring. I believe that everyone has the capability to be who they are meant to be. I realize that life can be painful, but there is a part of you that is resilient and confident. Your life has meaning and I'm happy to sit with you as we discover it and you learn to trust yourself.
My approach allows you to determine what you need from therapy, that it is tailored specifically to your needs. A few examples include using CBT skills, such as socratic questioning to deepen self understanding or utilizing distress tolerance techniques to reduce stress and increase your resiliency. We can also process deeply held emotions and any painful topics with safety.
